Common Acts
A quick reminder as the summer begins— we’re kicking off the fall semester with our biannual conference, “Crafting Narratives of Empire.” Co-produced by the ITPS and the Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy, the conference will feature keynote speeches by Stephen Pincus and Liz Ellis, Revolutionary Era music performance, and more. Check out the conference program and info here!
Common Sounds
This month, host Dr. John Winters interview Andrei Jacobs, the Senior Manager of Tribal Partnerships for America250, the federal government’s commemoration of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. They talk about his ongoing work reaching out to indigenous communities nationwide and he gives us important insights into what is at stake in these early stages of a truly massive, and long neglected, public history effort.
Following this episode, Episode 3.5 features an important update that took place after Andrei and Dr. Winters spoke: the first formal meeting of the America250 Tribal Advisory Group. The recording is presented with the permission of Andrei and America250.

Common Campus
The ITPS was thrilled to participate in last weekend’s Thomas Paine Festival in New Rochelle, organized by the Huguenot & New Rochelle Historical Association and the Thomas Paine New Rochelle Center. ITPs Public Historian Michael Crowder presented an archival exhibition of rare Paine works on Friday, June 17, and on Saturday, June 18, local and state office holders and community groups officially opened the Paine New Rochelle Center. We were happy to see our friends at Revolutionary Westchester 250 there—learn more about the festivities here!
